Free Comic Book Day 2008

Even the rain couldn’t stop a plethora of kids and parents coming out to Saturday’s Free Comic Book Day. The Beguiling organized an all ages arena at the Palmerston Library. Jeremy Tankard, Michael Cho, Steve Manale and I all had a great time doing drawings for kids. Amongst a huge stack of other drawings I must have done 5 mermaids, 3 unicorns, 5 dragons and 2 thugs from Grand Theft Auto (although I refused to draw them with guns, they were going to fight with trash can lids, old school style!).

Jeremy did a reading from his books and an art lesson and Steve and I taught the kids how to make funny comics and a couple fun drawing games.

Here is Steve turning a blob I drew into a brand new character, Skele-mom.

There was a steady stream of kids in and out, and a decent sized crowd stuck around for each time we did our presentation.

I hope your FCBD was as much fun as ours!
