I remember reading this series of kids books that really freaked me out. There were a bunch of ghosts of kids who had died in unusual ways, and they had adventures and solved mysteries, but they couldn’t use too much energy or they re-died. One character wondered if they just dissipated, if they went on to Heaven or Hell, or if it was a series of ghost planes, each less material than the previous.
