Epic Sail – part 34
They say New Zealand is to Australia, as Canada is to America. So this comics comes from a place of empathy. There are some Canucks who get mad that our southern neighbours only have a caricature of what Canada is like: lumberjacks, igloos, snow, maple syrup, beer, hockey, funny coloured money, and Celine Dion. But that’s more than most Canadians know about the giant mostly-uninhabited landmass that’s to the north of us, Greenland.
I totally managed to work in a flag gag in the middle of the adventure. Yes!

I can relate to that since my region shares the igloo and hockey reputation ^^;

Mounties, sled dog races, and polar bears.
Funny colored money? You have a coin with two colors! WTF

Silly mer-king. An apple? It would have been far more obvious if you’d used a Chinese Gooseberry.
Or maybe a weta.

Llama118 – Ha! Thanks
Jasae – Dubai?
Ribuprissin – The big secret about mounties is they are actually centaurs.
Nonsensicles – Yeah. the Wet-a is the most sensible for New Sealand, but who wants sensible? 😛

I laughed most when I saw the Mer-Douglas! If Mer-Douglas was a doctor, would he be a sea-saw-bones??

I’m Canadian-American, and spent half my life in each, so I feel at home in both countries! Most Americans are not aware how much oil we import from Canada. Some Australians I know tease New Zealand a little bit, but they definitely like to go to NZ for holiday!

… wait. This is the middle of the adventure??

Ribuprissin – not necessarily mathematically, but story-wise, two episodes ago was the middle.

As Howard Taylor said it:
The jokes about snow, igloos, and glaciers may appear quaint or absurd to some 21st-century Canadians. They’re almost always Canadians from the FIRST half of the 21st century.

Also don’t forget that free trade thing and the fish wars ….. silver fish according to some southerners, US that is, are good eating >_<
Here are some fun trivia questions
– Name the countries that border the US
[yes, they include France]
– Now group them by primary compass direction N, S, E W
[one is in all 4 directions]
