Arcaned Machine 6
It used to confuse me that on cartoons if someone landed in water, from any height, they were considered safe. No one died in the airplane fights on GI Joe. They just bailed out and fell into water. Yet Ghosts ‘N’ Goblins and other side-scrollers taught me the opposite lesson.

That’s one of the reasons that I don’t watch a lot of cartoons that are supposed to take place in a “Real” (or semi-realistic) world. I’m okay with Fantasy/non-realistic stuff like the Roadrunner cartoons where cartoon physics rules and Wile E. Coyote can seemingly fall thousands of feet and end up a pile of mush at the bottom only to come back unhurt in the next scene — because it’s *OBVIOUSLY* fantasy. But when a semi-realistically rendered G.I. Joe character falls “only” a couple of hundred feet into water (an uncompressable liquid, by the way!) without a concussion and/or some broken limbs and a lot of bruising, *THAT’S* when I change the channel.

If Zelda 2 has taught me anything, it’s that there’s no such thing as water or lava. All there is bottomless chasms with a water or lava texture on the chasm wall.
Tricky.

When Snowman turned into Snowdragon did he lose a man, or did he get an extra one since he wasn’t using it anymore?

Reynard – I feel the same with video games. The closer something attempts to look real, the less real it seems – thanks to the details.
Bok – I skipped Zelda 2 and went right to Windwaker. I passed up so many valuable lessons!
Ribuprissin – I’m not sure how it’s manhandled in this game.

This is the first Princess Planet strip I ever read. I have mixed emotions about this, as it means my archive reading ends with one more click of the “Next” button, but at least I finally have context for what’s going on here.

Sirbacon, I feel ya… I remember how much fun I had reading thru the PP archives, and how sad it was getting to the end.

Thanks Sirbacon and Lars! Feel free to spread the disappointment by recommending the comic to your friends!

I’ve had great fun so far. Only 4 years to go before I finish my archive trawl and have to find something else. Keep up the great work.
