Shadows of Dooooom! – part 3

Yeah, come on. Zombie and Vampires get all the love. Why no shadow movies? You’d think that would be a budget horror movie’s most common monster. It’s super creepy and cheap! Anyone seen a shadow horror movie? Did I miss out on one?

Also, buzzword is one my least favourite buzzwords. What phrases are driving you nuts?

10 Awesomes Comments!

  1. Daniel

I read a book where they had to fight shadowhands (undead spirits) that couldn’t cross flowing water.

Does the magic mall have a waterslide?

  2. Ribusprissin

I’ve never understood why zombies turn you into zombies, especially if they eat your brain first.

  3. Ben

Shadow movie? The episodes ‘Silence in the Library’ and ‘Forest of the Dead’ from the television show Doctor Who have shadows as the villains. It’s one of the creepiest episodes.

Daniel – the mall better have a waterslide! Every mall should have a water slide!

Ribuprissin – I think the zombies eating people and turning them into zombies is supposed to bring to mind infectious diseases. They’re a metaphor for the spread of contact diseases. The whole brain thing came later, and incidently makes George Romero cringe.

Ben – I absolutely love Doctor Who and those episodes were great. I had totally forgotten about them being shadows because I remember them as the skulls in the space suit episodes. Thanks for the reminder!

  5. Rowen

The problem with shadows is that the obvious solution of turning of the lights might backfire on you so badly. You have a 50/50 chance of destroying your foe or letting them creep up on you.

  6. Jan

Ah, what could be more horror than marketing running amok?

  7. admin

Rowen- You’re jumping ahead of me!

Jan – How about marketing running ewok?

  8. USB

I’d go with fail as the buzzword that drive me nuts.
Peter Pan features an anthropomorphic shadow. I think Dracula: Dead and Loving It also had a shadow gag.

  9. Scarodactyl

“Anyone seen a shadow horror movie?”
I saw “The Shadow,” and it >was< pretty horrible…
(Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The shadow knows!)

The SCP foundation has something shadow-related and rather horrifying, but it isn’t an animated murderous shadow. Its a nail that holds your shadow in place, and kills you if you touch it.
